In the Limelight: Kenneth Cherry

In this edition of our “In the Limelight” series, meet Kenneth Cherry—a Client Operations Lead for Aleron India supporting Broadleaf Results. In this role, Kenneth oversees the successful execution of client projects through consistent communication, process improvements, and monitoring team performance.

My Roots

I was born and raised in the historic town of Sivagangai, known for being the seat of power for India’s first female freedom fighter, Velunachiyar, as well as the birthplace of the renowned Maruthu Brothers freedom fighters. I now live in Chennai, which is situated in the southern region of Tamil Nadu, India.

While pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, I was engaged in competitive table tennis tournaments and also served as the captain for the inter-college cricket team. My collegiate experiences inspired my decision to embark on a journey toward my MBA with a specialization in HR & Systems.

Journey to Broadleaf

After completing my MBA, I was keen on joining the HR field. Two of my peers were working at Broadleaf, and through them, I learned about the company’s supportive environment for expressing ideas and fostering professional growth. I applied with the company and received an offer to join the team. Since then, I’ve progressed from a Research Consultant to my current role as Client Operations Lead.

An Integral Part of the Broadleaf Team

As a Client Operations Lead, I oversee the successful execution of client projects while maintaining strong client relationships. I handle communication with clients, ensure smooth task transitions, implement process improvements, manage conflicts, monitor team performance, provide training, and foster innovation. My day-to-day activities are dynamic and demand adaptability, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to client success.

In my initial role, I was focused on conducting in-depth research on the job market, analyzing data, and presenting findings in innovative ways. My presentations were well-received for their unique perspectives and engaging visuals. This opportunity to showcase my research skills and present findings in a captivating manner played a crucial role in my subsequent promotion to Client Operations Lead.

Transitioning into the Client Operations Lead role marked a significant shift in my responsibilities. Instead of focusing solely on research and analysis, I now oversee a team of ten individuals, guiding them in their day-to-day tasks and ensuring the smooth operation of our client projects. This leadership role has allowed me to develop my management and communication skills, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Why Broadleaf?

Broadleaf offers its team members an unparalleled level of support and collaboration. It’s an environment where continuous learning is not only encouraged but embraced. It has been an exceptional place to grow personally and professionally.

One of the things I appreciate most about my role is being able to connect talented individuals with career opportunities. The thrill lies in orchestrating a seamless alignment between the skills and aspirations of candidates and the needs of our clients. Witnessing the positive impact of these connections on both individuals and the success of our clients’ projects is truly invigorating. Additionally, the continuous evolution and challenges in the staffing landscape keep the work engaging and offer opportunities for learning and growth.

Life Beyond Broadleaf

Outside of work, I like jogging and table tennis to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I’m passionate about cricket and enjoy playing the sport. I’m also a foodie with a penchant for exploring diverse culinary delights. I love trying new dishes and discovering unique flavors.

If money or time off were no object, I would love to explore Australia and various countries in Europe. Australia appeals to me with its diverse landscapes, unique wildlife, and vibrant cities. In Europe, the rich history, cultural heritage, and the opportunity to experience a blend of modern and traditional lifestyles across different countries are what captivate me. These destinations offer a perfect mix of adventure, cultural exploration, and relaxation.

Looking Ahead

During my time supporting Broadleaf, I’ve witnessed significant changes in the HR industry and expect that things will continue to evolve. Here are some of my predictions for the next ten years:

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) will play an increasingly prominent role in the hiring process, enabling recruiters to identify and connect with candidates on a highly personalized level.
  • Traditional hiring practices that focus on educational credentials and degrees will gradually give way to skills-based hiring, which emphasizes a candidate’s actual skills and abilities.
  • The gig economy, characterized by temporary and freelance work arrangements, is expected to continue to grow in the next decade.
  • Organizations will increasingly rely on data and analytics to make informed decisions about talent acquisition, development, and retention.
  • Additionally, as the world becomes increasingly interconnected, there will be a greater demand for talent with global experience and skills.
