Life Before Broadleaf

I grew up in Lawrenceville, Georgia and now live in Calhoun, Georgia. I went to school at Georgia Gwinnett College and received my bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in criminal justice. I was a co-manager at RaceTrac Petroleum for many years. My best friend worked for Broadleaf, which is how I came to start working for the company. What sold me was the work-life balance, flexibility, and opportunity to learn something new.

Life at Broadleaf

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist at Broadleaf, I’m responsible for candidate onboarding and hiring and VMS management. I ensure candidates are onboarded in a timely fashion, keep the VMS up-to-date, and assist with client and supplier inquiries.

There was a huge learning curve when I joined Broadleaf, as the MSP space was an entirely new world for me—but I was excited to learn a different industry. Broadleaf has been great about encouraging me and helping me grow. I’m also very organized and detail oriented, which has helped me in my role.

The work does come with its challenges. The job market can be very competitive when it comes to finding the best talent for our client—and doing it quickly. I’ve also seen how new legislation and policies have changed the dynamics for temporary workers just in the last couple years.

Looking ahead, it’s hard to say what the industry will look like ten years from now. We know from the COVID pandemic how rapidly things can change. But I do imagine more people choosing contract work as the years go by.

Life Outside of Broadleaf

Outside of work, my two little girls keep me busy. I love watching them play together. I also like to cook and garden. Homesteading is something I have started to get more passionate about. I love the idea of becoming more self-sufficient.

If money or time off were no object, I would travel to Europe to see Italy, Germany, and Spain. I was able to visit Denmark when I was a child and would love my own children to get the same experience of seeing other cultures.
