In the Limelight: Stephanie Portis

Broadleaf has long been recognized as a premier provider of total talent and workforce management solutions. But who are the people behind-the-scenes that help make our success possible?

In this edition of our “In the Limelight” series, meet Stephanie Portis, Director of Client Delivery. As a new member of the Broadleaf team, Stephanie brings nearly a decade of staffing and workforce solutions experience to the table. Her strategic mindset, consultative approach, and program management proficiencies will be critical in delivering high-quality results that elevate our clients’ workforce programs.

A start in staffing

I graduated from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia with my undergraduate degree in psychology and my master’s degree in public health. At the start of my professional career, I worked as a Health Educator and a Grants Coordinator before a friend of mine convinced me to work for his staffing firm as a recruiter. Luckily for me, I decided to give the job a shot, and I haven’t looked back since!

Finding the right fit

Throughout my time in the MSP industry, I’ve worked for several different companies—but none of them have been a perfect fit. While my goal has always been to work on and service larger-scale accounts, I didn’t want to feel like I was a small cog in a giant machine. Ultimately, I wanted to find a place that allowed me to feel like my voice was being heard. I longed for more personal connections to my work and my coworkers. Since joining the Broadleaf team, I’ve finally found what I’ve been longing for!

A day in the life

In my role as Director of Client Delivery, I service one of our largest accounts for a national aerospace and defense company. The organization has dozens and dozens of facilities across the U.S., all with different processes. My role is to help the client in better strategizing and streamlining operations to make things more efficient. It’s the consultative side of program management that I love most—I get to play a role in the organization’s success by coming up with improvements and developing more effective recruitment and workforce plans.

Commitment to collaboration

Since my first day at Broadleaf, I’ve been impressed by how collaborative our organization is. My day-to-day interactions have been incredibly supportive. I feel that the company wants to help enable my success in my work, which is something you might not always see in organizations that are larger in size. I genuinely feel connected to Broadleaf, and I am proud to work for such a highly-regarded women-owned business.

Non-professional passions

As an Atlanta resident, many people don’t know that our city is one of the greenest in America. We have lots of awesome hiking trails within an hour of the city—including the famous Blue Ridge Mountains. When I’m not working, I like to take my rescue dog, Nora, with me on hikes. In addition to being outdoors, my mom and I enjoy flipping furniture that we purchase from estate sales. My mom is the owner of an antique store, so we regularly visit estate sales on weekends to find beautiful pieces of furniture that we can restore. Although the work can be tedious, it’s nice to see old, forgotten furniture transform into something beautiful and useful!
